Kylie and Nat join up for Oz fire relief

Updated 11:45am on 10 Feb 2009

Kylie Minogue is teaming up with sister Dannii and fellow Aussie singer Natalie Imbruglia to host a benefit show in London for the victims of the Australian bush fires. The stars hope to raise funds and give people the chance to pay their respects to the 173 who have perished.

Fundraisers: Kylie Minogue and Natalia Imbruglia

Rescue services in the fire-ravaged country are expecting the death toll to rise when they get to search burnt-out buildings and houses in the state of Victoria - home state for the Minogues.

Kylie ' s pal, Aussie author Kathy Lett, told us at the Elle Style Awards last night that the wheels have been put in motion for the London event.

While Kylie and Dannii would like something along the lines of a memorial service, Natalie is trying to convince them to go down the l ine of a fundraising show.

Kathy told us: "We want to hold a memorial service in London so people can pay their respects. We're working on that now. The situation down there is really, really dreadful."

Speaking about Kylie, she added: "Her parents are in Melbourne, so we're all very worried. There are serious fires, and there is also a drought, which is very much preying on our minds.

"They live in Melbourne, and that's where Dannii is at the moment. We're all very concerned and worried. Kylie has been calling and emailing her family constantly - we're all deeply upset and concerned."

Natalie, who presented the Future Fashionaward to designer ERDEM, told us at the afterparty: "I think we should definitely talk about doing something like a fundraiser for those affected by the bush fires. Thankfully, I pers ona l ly don' t know anyone affected."

I think it's great that Kylie, Danni & Natalie are arranging this fundraiser! I am definately interested. I live over in London and have not been able to help enough back home as we have lost a house and many friends. I am keen to get involved wherever I can.

Please publish any details you can for us.

Thanks

As a Melbournian on a 2 year working holiday visa in London I am looking for any way I can to help my friends back home. I haven ever felt so far away, I hope this event does take place. Over 5000 properties have been lost.

Also it is great that Kylie and Natalie are involved and I dont care what their hair looks like.
