X Factor Alex moves out of family home to escape fans

Updated 12:37pm on 12 Feb 2009

X Factor winner Alexandra Burke has had to move out of her family home in Islington after being constantly besieged by fans. The singer hasn't gone far though, choosing a one-bedroom f lat just around the corner (but we won't tell you exactly where), which has a concierge for security.

Moving out: Alex Burke

She has been tipped to be as big as Leona Lewis and has developed a huge following from devoted fans since winning the ITV show in December.

But our source said: "Alex was a bit shocked at the following she has gained since the X Factor, and although she loves her fans, it was getting a bit much for her.

"It was for her own safety and security that she moved. It had got to the stage where some people were going through her rubbish to see what they could find. It is the first time she has lived away from home though, and she is already missing her family and home cooking.

"She is a real home girl, and didn't want to go far. She can still pop home easily."

Alex, 20, won't be in her new home for long though. She joins up with the rest of this year's contestants for the X Factor tour, which starts in Scotland next week and makes its way to Wembley Arena in March.
