Sorry Dev, Freida's got her own Idol

Updated 14:28pm on 23 Feb 2009

Freida Pinto has denied she is seeing her Slumdog Millionaire co-star Dev Patel.

Here's looking at you "Kid": Freida Pinto and Dev Patel

The 24-year-old actress even took a swipe at the young actor she has been romantically linked to, saying he was just a "kid".

Freida's comments at the Oscars came just hours after her former fiancé claimed their relationship broke down because she got too close to Dev, 18.

Last night Freida referred to Dev's character in the film as a "little boy", and she refuted claims they were an item. She added: "Like I said, the little boy in the film, he's a kid."

She made her comments during an interview with presenter Ryan Seacrest, with Dev chipping in: "No, we're not seeing each other."

Freida's former fiance Rohan Antao told yesterday how Freida "ruined his faith in love". She ditched him just after hitting the big time.

He said: "She ended it with me after getting close to Dev Patel. Now everywhere I go I see them on billboards. I am devastated."

He won't feel any better this morning - Freida not only denied the rumours of a fling with Dev but also was in an openly flirtatious mood.

She started as soon as she hit the red carpet. When Ryan confronted her with the Dev rumours, she replied: "I'm waiting for you to call me up."

Ryan, thinking all his Christmases had come at once, replied: "What time does the show finish?"

Freida went on to complain that she is having trouble finding a boyfriend, adding: "No one's asking me out. Not even one celebrity."

Sorry Rohan.
