I want to be Walliams's leading laydee

Updated 13:42pm on 24 Feb 2009

David Walliams's 18-year-old girlfriend has revealed the comedian laughed his way into her heart - and that she wants a role in little Britain. Walliams has been dating model Lauren Budd for a few months, and she says that things are going great.

So far so good: Lauren Budd with David Walliams

Speaking at the MAC Salutes fashion week party, she said: "Before we got together we were just really good friends, but he took me out for dinner and he really made me laugh. It's only been a few months, but it's going really well."

Fresh out of sixth form college in Hampshire, Lauren is considerably younger than 37-year-old David, but said it doesn't bother her. She added: "At first I thought about the age, but after a while you don't really think about it. It's definitely not a problem."

Lauren, who models under the name Violet and is signed to Premier model management, also said she is planning another holiday with David after they were snapped on the beach in Barbados.

"We're going on holiday together to New York next month," she said. "He's writing and I'm working, so it's worked out really well."

And of his hit comedy, she added: "I would love to be in Little Britain, and get involved in the dressing up. It would be hilarious to wear one of those fat suits."

Speaking of her trip to Barbados in January, she said: "The holiday was really spontaneous. I was already working in america but had finished early, so when he phoned me from Miami how could I say no?

"We had an amazing time together in the sun. I've been working really hard, money work, recently. I'm going to be in the next edition of GQ which I can't wait for."

Money work? As opposed to? Oh yes - I forgot. She's fresh out of school - I guess she thought she'd better clarify lest we think she was busy cramming for exams. Bless.

Hmmm, a girlfriend 20 (?) years younger who's already making noises about benefitting from someone's success - ie appearing in HIS TV show - isn't necessarily ideal ... but I wish them well nevertheless!
