I can’t see a Ting

Thousands of fans of The Ting Tings were turned away at the door after a power cut caused the band's sell-out gig to be cancelled.

It is the third time recently that the O2 Academy Brixton has postponed a show because of electricity problems.

Fans complained on the indie-pop band's website that they received no notice and only found out at the venue on Friday night.

Fan Mick Stevens wrote: “In this age of Facebook and Twitter turning up at a gig to be told it's cancelled is completely unacceptable.”

One heavily pregnant woman was turned away at the door after flying in especially for the gig from Edinburgh. A Ting Tings spokeswoman apologised and said they learnt about the problem shortly before show time.

The band's Katie White and Jules De Martino said: “It's a shame and we appreciate the support of all our fans who've turned up. We can't wait for a rescheduled Brixton date.”

EDF Energy said the power cut at the 4,921-capacity venue was caused by problems at two electricity sub-stations.

In January, Streets star Mike Skinner had to postpone a performance and the following night another capacity crowd was turned away from the finale of the Kerrang! UK tour.

its a shame, im going to have to get a refund, was looking forward to see the support act, but with no new date, and no idea who is supporting what with the money wasted getting there and buying drinks while hanging around as advised for an hour, it turned out to be a expensive night!!!!
