Barnet? Amy Winehouse would rather be in Camden

Updated 12:01pm on 19 Mar 2009

Amy Winehouse may have moved to Barnet to escape the lures of Camden, but we knew it wouldn't be too long before she returned to her old haunts. Last night she travelled into town for a huge bender with chums that involved one costume change and a singing session in her favourite gaffe, The Hawley Arms.

Worse for wear: Amy Winehouse leaving The Hawley Arms

Amy's mother Janice was said to have been behind her move to the leafy suburbs of Barnet so she could keep an eye on her 25-year-old daughter, who recently returned from her two-month break in St Lucia.

But the singer was on her usual form last night. She kicked off at 10pm, making her way to her pal Remi Nicole's house in east London.

Obviously not content with her rather revealing red top, she raided Remi's wardrobe and changed into a cream polo shirt.

They then made their way to Maddox in Mayfair, where Sadie Frost was celebrating the closing night of her play, Touched For The Very First Time.

Amy was a tad unsteady on her feet by this stage, after knocking back a few drinks, and her next stop was The Hawley Arms.

A source said: "They all went up to an upstairs room after the pub had shut and had a right old sing song. You could hear the singing from the street below, and they went on until 2.30am. Amy was supposed to have moved to Barnet to get away from the excesses of her Camden buddies. But last night showed she's only a cab ride away and her mother can't stop her."

You can take a girl out of Camden Town, but you can't take Camden out of a girl. Amy Winehouse will always return to Camden Town. She loves it there.
