Mums go wild as Take That Mark joins toddlers group

Updated 13:38pm on 26 Mar 2009

A mother and baby group have ditched their tracksuits and trainers for make-up and manicures after Mark Owen signed up with his two-year-old son.

Since the Take That star joined the weekly playgroup near his Wandsworth home, mums have been making sure they are immaculately dressed.

Owen, 37, takes his son Elwood Jack to the children's fitness and music class every Monday.
The class, which is held in a café near Wandsworth Common, plays nursery rhymes and pop music for kids to dance to. One mum told The Sun: “The Monday classes used to be very low-key.

Everyone would turn up without a scrap of make-up and wearing old clobber. But since Mark began showing up, that's changed hugely. It can be like a fashion show.”

And the mothers are said to be plucking up courage to ask Owen to sing to them. A source said: “All the women want Mark to do a bit of singing. But everyone has been too shy to ask.”

Owen, who tours the UK this summer with Take That, also has a four-month-old daughter, Willow Rose, with partner Emma Ferguson.
