When Ashley Cole got into trouble over alleged affairs last year, his loyal wife Cheryl forgave him and even spoke of starting a family together.

But Ash left his loyal missus red faced earlier this month when he was arrested for swearing at police after getting angry at being snapped next to a beautiful blonde at a restaurant.

Now Cheryl has vowed to put their baby plans on hold until she knows their marriage is rock solid.

We're told: "She has had to reconsider the whole baby plan now. She feels the time is just not right. It is really hard for her because she wants a family more than anything in the world, but she is a clever girl and won't bring a baby into this world until both her and Ash are ready. He has a lot of proving to do before then."

The Chelsea star, 28, was arrested following a drunken confrontation with police outside South Kensington nightspot The Collection. Moments before the fracas erupted, Ashley was seen talking to a pretty blonde inside the club, although he insists he was having an "intellectual conversation".

Cheryl, who had been climbing Mount Kilimanjaro to raise funds for Comic Relief, was brought to tears when she was told of Cole's arrest. The pair have not been seen together since she returned from her African trip.

The couple almost split last year over allegations that he had cheated on Cheryl with hairdresser Aimee Walton.
