Lily Allen: I'm giving up on music
Updated 12:02pm on 31 Mar 2009Lily Allen has given the clearest indication yet that she is ready to quit music for good after her latest album.

Lights traveller: Lily Allen and her ration of cigarettes
The singer begins the US leg of her world tour in San Diego tomorrow, having arrived at Los Angeles Airport yesterday with a bag full of Marlboro lights. Lily must be desperate for the British version of her favourite smoke, as she seemed to have at least 600 with her.
Despite the success of her second album - It's Not Me, It's You - she may be ready to knock her musical career on the head. She said: "After this album and tour I have a brand new business I am setting up, but i can't say what it is yet. I am definitely considering quitting music."
The smart money would be on Lily, 23, following her mum and dad into the world of film and TV. Her mother Alison is a film producer and everyone is familiar with her actor father Keith - and Lily herself is no stranger to TV after hosting her own chat show.
But Lily has also spoken of opening a "fancy dress shop" with her pal Jaime Winstone, which would also sell a normal line of clothes designed by the pair. She made the impulsive comments during an interview in Australia, where she also spoke candidly about her spat with Sir Elton John at the GQ Awards last summer. Lily is signed to Sir Elt's management company but she didn't let that stop her humiliating herself and the superstar at the bash with her drunken behaviour.
And it seems she feels absolutely no remorse over her actions, claiming instead: "My management were never going to sack me, anyway they can't because they work for me and I pay their wages."

Hurrah! I think this just may be the news we needed to buck up the economy - I'll definitely be out celebrating!

Please say this isn't an April Fool.
Her 'music' was a load of rubbish. The 'success' of her album was only due to a certain amount of good publicity.

Somebody sounds tired and emotional. A case of over exposure, too much to young. The sadness of privilege, toys out of the pram etc.
Let hope were not in for a Britney-esque freak out. I really couldn't bare it.
I think playing dress up shop sounds fun.

What a waste! Such talent, so young...and all of her success achieved completely on her own merits and without any reference to Dad's contacts. Such an example to the youth of today... (NOT!!)

I wish she'd just get on and do it then .. she's been moaning about leaving music and what a hard life it is since her first album, its just dull now.

Horay! We wont miss your songs (badly sung by you) or your silly little rhymes which are something a 7 year old could do. Bye Lily - so long, dont rush back!
