J-Lo parties with Kate as Topshop opens in Big Apple
Last updated at 12:09pm on 02.04.09Topshop boss Sir Philip Green looks set to conquer America - with a little help from Kate Moss. The first American Topshop store, which opens in New York today, had the city's fashion lovers in a spin, with crowds of shoppers pressed against windows desperate for a peek inside.

Moss, 35, who arrived with Sir Philip's 17-year-old daughter Chloe, wore her favourite £60 stripey dress from the range she designed for the high street chain. Other guests at the launch party included Jennifer Lopez, Jennifer Hudson, James Blunt, Rosario Dawson, Agyness Deyn, Marc Jacobs and Vogue editor Anna Wintour.

J-Lo, 40, in a figure-hugging strapless white gown, and her husband Marc Anthony, greeted Moss on the red carpet like an old friend. As the evening went on Lopez, Dreamgirls star Hudson and Blunt took the microphone to surprise fellow guests with a series of songs.

Moss was also due at today's opening ceremony at 11am New York time. Long queues were expected as thousands compete to be first to get their hands on her designs. Her new clothing range, her ninth for Topshop, also goes on sale around the world today.

The four-storey Broadway store, similar to the flagship Oxford Street branch, has 200 workers, 32 changing rooms and a DJ booth.
