Kabbalah Guy was a 'secret' holy rolla

Updated 12:16pm on 14 Apr 2009

Most guys grab a cheeky pint when they sneak away from the missus, but not Guy Ritchie. We can reveal that the 40-year-old RocknRolla director was slipping away from his then wife Madonna to attend an intense course in... Christianity.

Rival religions: "Christian" Guy Ritchie and Kabbalah devotee Madonna

While publically supporting Kabbalah - the Judaism-based religion of which Madge is a devotee - Guy quietly at tended 10 weekly two-hour sessions of the Alpha course at Kensington's Holy Trinity Brompton Church in 2007.

Guy, who converted to Kabbalah when he married Madge in 2000, continued to publicly attend Kabbalah meetings while completing the Christianity course.

It is not known whether the 50-year-old singer knew about Guy's Alpha sessions - but it is known that Guy quickly dumped Kabbalah when their relationship hit the rocks.

Meanwhile, sources in Malawi have revealed that Madonna's bid adopt three-year-old Mercy James is facing a double snag. The authorities there are said to be unhappy that Madonna is not in a "stable relationship" and are at odds with her as to how much cash has been donated to Malawi orphans.

A source said: "One of the conditions that Madonna was allowed to adopt David Banda in 2006 was that she helped the needy children there.

But the courts are not happy that she has done enough, which is something they need to resolve if she wants to win her appeal and adopt Mercy."

The fact that the courts think Madonna has not done enough comes as quite a shock - as she has donated millions through her worldwide Raising Malawi initiative.

A bit childish really, my invisible friend is better than your invisible friend.
