While it is true that Gary Lineker managed to get through his entire football career without being booked, he couldn't last one night without being shown the red card by fiery chef Marco Pierre White.

Kitchen hell: Gary Lineker landed in hot water when he tried to visit his fiancée Danielle Bux

The former England star was left red-faced when he was given a dressing-down for entering the contestants' work station on ITV's Hell's Kitchen reality show last night.

Lineker's fiancée Danielle Bux is taking part in this year's show, and Gary, 48, thought he'd pop in to give her a kiss and a gee-up.

But White was having none of it, and unceremoniously chucked him out, telling him to "respect the kitchen".

Lineker told us: "I only went over to give Danielle a big kiss to say hello and he shouted at me and told me to respect the kitchen. I then told him that he didn't scare me - but really he does."

Bux is one of eight contestants who are cooking up a storm in a bid to be crowned winner of the show.

Guests at the TV studio in east London - including Vanessa Feltz, Donal MacIntyre and actress Faye Ripley - were asked to fill out a score card after each course. But Lineker was taking no chances after his kitchen confrontation, saying: "I haven't sent any food back or anything - I'm not that stupid."

The meal started with a soup of red mullet with saffron and Cornish crab, or potted shrimps.

Main courses included grilled yellowtail tuna, fillet steak tartare, roast rump of lamb or cutlet of veal.

Desserts included raspberry, pear or lemon tart, English strawberries or a selection of English cheeses.
