Looks like Peaches Geldof has run out of gas

Updated 13:10pm on 7 May 2009

She has landed herself in trouble for walking out of shops after "forgetting" to pay the bill. Now Peaches Geldof's absent-mindedness seems to have stretched to household expenses. The 20-year-old society girl has been threatened with court action after failing to pay her £386 gas bill.

Debt: Peaches Geldof

A pink notice was pinned to the front door of her New York apartment earlier this week, with her name scrawled across it and a demand for $575.60. It read: "If you do not act now, we will have to take further action to discontinue your gas service. This could include shutting your gas off from the street or applying for a Court Order that will allow a New York City Marshall to seize our meter. You will be responsible for paying Court and Marshall fees."

Reminder notice: The gas bill warning for Peaches Geldof

With millionaire Sir Bob Geldof as her father, you perhaps wouldn't expect Peaches to be falling behind with the bills. But she has a seemingly unshakeable habit of "accidentally" not paying for things.

She walked out of an east London boutique last November with an item of clothing over her arm before staff caught up with her. In 2006 she was stopped in Oxford Street after staff accused her of trying to leave without paying for a coat. The following year she reportedly walked off with £6,000 of clothes and accessories from a fashion shoot, and was shamed into returning them after being rumbled. Earlier last year she left I Dream Of Wires boutique without paying for an item - eventually claiming she thought it belonged to her friend.

And in April last year she left a shop in nearby Carnaby Street with a £500 silk dress, which she returned when confronted by a security guard.

We wish the gas company the very best of luck recovering their money.

I wish she would just run away.

Why are none of the shops calling the police - like they would with anyone else caught shoplifting?! Is she really so vital to their financial survival that they all make an exception?? All very pathetic....
