Free: Boy George

Boy George saluted and beamed with delight as he walked out of prison today after serving just a quarter of his sentence.

The eighties popstar was freed from Edmunds Hill jail in Suffolk four months into a 15-month term for chaining a male escort to a hook in his bedroom.

Dressed in a black zip-up top and looking healthier and noticeably slimmer than when he went in, the former Culture Club frontman loaded five holdalls into a blacked-out Land Rover waiting for him outside.

The 47-year-old, whose real name is George O'Dowd, was given permission for early release for good behaviour, but will wear an ankle monitoring tag and adhere to a curfew.

He was jailed in January for assaulting and falsely imprisoning male prostitute Audun Carlsen in his Shoreditch home in April 2007.

The 29-year-old Norwegian managed to free himself and fled in his underpants into the street, screaming for help.

The singer spent a few weeks in London's Pentonville Prison before being moved to Category C Edmunds Hill, where Jade Goody's husband Jack Tweed is serving time for attacking a taxi driver.
