Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher to twitter off

Updated 11:19am on 28 May 2009

Demi Moore and husband Ashton Kutcher are threatening to quit Twitter over reports of a new reality TV show being made about the social networking site.

Had enough? Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher may quit twitter

Reveille and Brillstein Entertainment, the production company behind The Sopranos, the US version of The Office and Ugly Betty are developing a show encouraging ordinary people to compete over "trailing" their favourite celebrities using Twitter.

Moore and Kutcher have been avid Tweeters up to now, exchanging love notes on line for all their followers to see but both posted messages saying they would stop using the site if reports of the TV show were true.

Moore, 46, wrote: "I hope this isn't true - if it is our Twitter time may come to a quick and sad end!"

Kutcher, 31, Tweeted: "Wow I hope this isn't true. I really don't like being sold out. May have to take a twitter hiatus."

In recent months Kutcher has posted a picture of Moore bending over in her bikini on his Twitter page, while Moore has used her page to praise Britain's Got Talent contestant Susan Boyle, and exchange messages with judge Amanda Holden about Simon Cowell lending her a private jet to attend the finals.

Moore defended her comments, insisting writing messages to her husband on the social networking site is not the same as being "exploited" on a reality TV show.

She wrote: "Connecting directly with people is different then being exploited by others. What we choose to expose of ourselves is very different then someone selling you out.

"The difference is I am sharing of myself vs someone else exploiting me. That is the incredible gift that Twitter has created!"

Variety reported Twitter was in talks with Reveille and Brillstein about the new show, but the San Francisco-based internet-site has now posted a message on the Twitter official blog, distancing itself from the project.

In a message titled "We're Not Making A TV Show", Twitter officials wrote, "Just to be clear, Twitter is not making a television show. Some Hollywood folks are developing something that leverages Twitter and they are extremely enthusiastic as evidenced by all the media hubbub yesterday and today. We have little to do with their efforts but we wish them success."

The new TV show is being described as "putting ordinary people on the trail of celebrities in a revolutionary competitive format."

The series concept was created by novelist and screenwriter Amy Ephron.

Brillstein's Jon Liebman said: "We've found a compelling way to bring the immediacy of Twitter to life on TV."

Please Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher, do not twitter off right now.

Use twitter to alert people worldwide against hepatitis b, c, d, etc contaminations. Both of you have the power to do this!

The World Hepatitis Alliance is trying through the World Health Organization to do the first ever hepatitis resolution, but nothing in an appropriate dimension was done yet.

No government or institution managed to do success-full prevention alerts.

500 million people carry one of its viruses, most do not know it but, are infecting others.
1.5 million persons die every year due to liver problems caused by hepatitis.

Alerts on contamination sources are tremendously lacking. Not even the main infection sources are still revealed. I have a research ready to help.
