Aussie PM calls Gordon Ramsay a 'low-life'

Australian PM Kevin Rudd has waded into the row between Gordon Ramsay and TV host Tracy Grimshaw, calling the chef a "low-life."

Guest: Gordon Ramsay and presenter Tracy Grimshaw

Ramsay allegedly upset the presenter by showing a food fair audience a picture of a nude woman on all fours, with multiple breasts and a pig's face, and saying the image was of Grimshaw.

She has hit back, calling Ramsay an "arrogant narcissist" and a "bully", and particularly sparking his ire by speaking of the chef's relationship with his wife. Ramsay has denied rumours that he had an affair last year.

Today, Mr Rudd said: "All I could describe his remarks as reflecting is a new form of low-life. I just think that's off, and offensive. Good on Grimshaw for coming out and giving him a left upper cut."

Ramsay is threatening to hit back through the courts against Grimshaw. Today he called the onslaught against him last night on Grimshaw's peak-time show A Current Affair "disgusting".

The presenter claims Ramsay ridiculed her at a food show in Melbourne on Saturday after being on her programme on Friday. "I'm not going to let some arrogant narcissist bully me," she said. "We've all seen how Gordon Ramsay treats his wife and he supposedly loves her.

We're all just fodder to him." She also denied being gay, in answer to claims Ramsay had called her a lesbian.

She added: "Obviously Gordon thinks any woman who doesn't find him attractive must be gay."

Ramsay says the claims have been exaggerated. "I never used the word lesbian," he said.

His lawyers are scrutinising tapes of the food show, the organisers of which say he didn't make the alleged comments.

The fact of the matter is that Ramsay tries so hard to be funny at the expense of others & thinks he'll get away with it all the time!

His ego is bigger than his (foul) mouth these days when he should just get his damn head down and concentrate on cooking & getting his shaky business in order.

It's all about PR PR PR, publicity, publicity with this loathsome creature nowadays.

I'm glad his getting his comeuppance as far as UK media is concerned & exposing him for what he really is...nasty piece of work!!

Dee - Good to see a comment from someone who was actually there. Got to say about Kevin Rudd though, if you're in the position that he's in, it's not too much to ask to confirm the facts before commenting, is it? If he's relying on the press for his information, he's pretty naive to say the least.

For those of us lucky enough to be there (and those who weren't there are tapes available of it) we know he didn't say this! The picture he showed he said he didn't want to sit next to her (the pig pic) and then said he wouldn't want to sit next to Tracy either. Tracy then turned on Gordons wife. He didn't say anything bad about her but she did about him!! He's being hammered by people unable to get their facts right. Secondly, Kevin Rudd's comment was based on 2nd hand information from the press. Information which Kevin did not know was false.
