Max Drummey: I married Peaches Geldof for publicity
By Alistair Foster, London Lite Last updated at 13:16pm on 10.06.09Max Drummey has admitted his shotgun wedding to Peaches Geldof was a "publicity stunt". The Chester French guitarist, who played in Shoreditch last night, sees his six-month marriage to Peaches as a joke and claims the Las Vegas nuptials garnered his band "amazing publicity".

Married for money: Peaches Geldof and Max Drummey
He said: "It was totally a publicity stunt. 100%. I have her [Peaches] on retainer. Not as my PR, as my friend. On my personal payroll . She's my friend for money. She also orchestrates publicity stunts for me."
He said that he was "glad" they wed, adding: "I've garnered so much amazing publicity from awesome people." The arrogant chap may have made his comments tongue-in-cheek, but it just goes to show how seriously he takes the failed marriage.
In a bizarre rant, he made a sick reference to Chris Brown's alleged assault of girlfriend Rihanna, saying: "We're guys who have been hurt by women and I'm glad people like Chris Brown are finally taking it back and hurting women."
Max and Peaches were married at A Little White Chapel in Vegas after a 10-day courtship, splitting soon after and divorcing in February.
Chester French played only its fourth ever London gig in Shoreditch last night to a small crowd, so we hope the publicity stunt was worth it.
