Piers Morgan: If I were Jonathan Ross, I'd shoot myself

Updated 13:45pm on 16 Jun 2009

Piers Morgan has launched a scathing attack on Jonathan Ross, taunting his TV rival over viewing figures. The Britain's Got Talent judge reckons Wossy, 48, has never recovered from the "Sachsgate" scandal, for which he received a threemonth suspension.

Bragging rights: a smug Piers Morgan

Readers may recall a little bit of controversy surrounding a message left by Ross and comedian Russell Brand on the answering machine of Andrew Sachs, which detailed the sexual exploits of Brand and Sachs's granddaughter Georgina Baillie.

Piers, 44, was talking at the premiere of the film Bansky's Coming To Dinner at the May Fair Hotel last night, where he boasted his viewing figures were much higher than Wossy's. He said: "I don't think Jonathan Ross has bounced back from the Andrew Sachs scandal. Three million viewers, when I get over five million? If I were him I'd shoot myself."

That certainly raised our spirits here at The Eye. Tell you what Piers, even though you are not Jonathan Ross, why don't you shoot yourself anyway!

Friday Night With Jonathan Ross averaged around 3.74m before he was suspended late last year. His return show in January attracted 5.1m and the number soon settled back to the pre-ban levels.

Piers' 5.2m haul came after interviewing Katie Price on his Life Stories show, and he was watched by more than 10m on the Britain's Got Talent final - although it's safe to say that the vast majority of viewers are tuning in for reasons other than Piers Morgan. Nevertheless, he does have bragging rights. Over to you Jonathan...

It seems that Piers Morgan is very jealous of Jonathan Ross. Mr Morgan was virtually unknown until a few years ago - Jonathan Ross has been around for more than 2 decades! Piers Morgan is not the star of BGT - the contestants are! People switched onto BGT to watch talent and Simon Cowell - not Piers Morgan.

Piers Morgan has got no talent - Wossy is very funny and a pleasure to watch and he has a lot of talent!

I am sure Ross is well aware of Morgan's desire for self publiciity & his habit of generating "feuds" and I doubt he would waste his energy on replying.

The celeb world is full of Piers Morgans types. They need to have cat fights and slanging matches in order to keep themselves in the public eye. Mainly because they do not have any discernible talent - just good luck. Though all credit to Piers Morgan - he realises he is very lucky and knows what the media expect from him.

But I doubt Ross will gave them all the satisfaction of reacting.
