Jonathan Ross brands rival Graham Norton ‘not good enough’

Updated 15:40pm on 29 Jun 2009

Jonathan Ross has taken a swipe at his BBC rival Graham Norton, saying his show is “not good enough”.

Scorn: Jonathan Ross

Ross is reportedly unhappy that Norton's new chat show will go head-to-head with his own from the autumn.

Speaking on his Radio 2 show on Saturday, Ross poured scorn on Norton's family series Totally Saturday, and moaned about the lack of talent at the BBC.

He said he missed shows like The Two Ronnies, and added: “Where's that now? What have we got on TV over the weekend? We had Graham Norton's Totally Saturday. Well, that's not good enough.

“Poor Graham, I feel for him watching that show. It makes even that series John Barrowman was in look like a work of genius.”

Ross, 48, has a three-year contract with the BBC worth £18m, while Norton, 46, is the second highest on £7.4m over three years.

Woss up wossy..................don't you like it because the attention has gone from you? I love the Graham Norton Show and he is entertaining and he makes me laugh. And if Wossy is unhappy with the talent on the BBC, then perhaps he should do us a favour and leave.........................thank you

It's quite simple really - Graham Norton is highly amusing, Jonathan Ross isn't.

Jonathan Ross's show is only worth watching if you are interested in the guests. He has very little to add otherwise and he himself is quite mundane. Graham's monologue and humour is far superior, which means every one of his shows is worth watching, and you have an interest in every guest, as they aren't afraid to laugh at themselves.

Ross just tries to be a smart-ass to his guest. That is not talent in my opinion.

I love the Graham Norton Show. How dare Jonathan Ross take a dig at Graham when he has nothing to brag about. Watched his show and thought this is absolutely horrible. Graham Norton is smart, wonderful, entertaining, and makes one laugh. We certainly can use someone like that especially now in these uncertain times. Thank you.

Make nice Mr. Ross...while I thoroughly enjoy watching BOTH programmes, I find myself quite amused and entertained a tad more while watching Graham Norton, no offense. The Jonathan Ross show is enjoyable and makes for a good laugh, the guest line-ups are wonderful, etc...however, I am not fond of the "Green Room" bit or the "house Band". I'm sorry, but when one is watching the Graham Norton show at home on the telly, iit is as if you're a part of the audience.
If that's not good enough, then what is?

The Saturday Night slot is a difficult one to fill. I like both Ross & Norton but what seperates the two? In my view Graham Norton is more edgy, wittier than Jonathon Ross.
Bottom line: Don't throw insults at your peers unless you can come up with something even better.
