Ryan O'Neal's tearful farewell to Farrah Fawcett

Farrah Fawcett's partner Ryan O'Neal led mourners at the actress's funeral in Los Angeles.

The Charlie's Angels star died on Thursday, aged 62. O'Neal, 68, who starred in Love Story, was among the pallbearers and gave a reading at the Roman Catholic service yesterday.

Fawcett had been diagnosed with bowel and then liver cancer in 2006. The couple's son Redmond, 24, attended the funeral after being briefly let out of prison, where he is being held on drugs charges. He was also a pallbearer and gave a bible reading at the private service. Friends who paid their respects to the Seventies icon included fellow Angel Kate Jackson, Joan Collins, model Cheryl Tiegs, Donald Trump's ex Marla

Maples and Fawcett's best friend Alana Stewart, who documented the actress's fight with the disease in a video diary.

Fawcett's cancer doctor, Dr Lawrence Piro, said: "She never felt sorry for herself during her illness... she fought cancer furiously." Hundreds of mourners gathered to watch the coffin, covered with yellow flowers, being taken inside the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels. Fan Karla Dishon, 47, said. "She's an icon and a beautiful woman."
