Peaches Geldof keen to follow Katie Holmes into Scientology
Last updated at 12:41pm on 09.07.09Peaches Geldof is the latest celebrity to fall victim, sorry, in love with Scientology — and her pals are blaming Hollywood actress Katie Holmes for getting the 20-year-old daughter of Bob Geldof involved in the oddball religion.

Keeping the faith: Peaches Geldof is interested in signing up to Scientology
After interviewing Holmes, 30, for Nylon magazine last year, Peaches was described as being “totally in awe” of her.
We're told that she wanted to “become friends” with Tom Cruise's wife and hang around in the same circles. So she looked into her local Scientology centre in New York to find out what it was all about.
A pal tells us: “Peaches was very impressed by Katie, she loved interviewing her and really wanted to become friends with her. She thought that taking up Scientology would be the perfect springboard to work her way into that New York clique.
“In the beginning she didn't know what it was all about, so she just went along to find out more information, but the more classes she attended the more she got into it.
“She knows her dad won't be happy about it but she feels it will help her move into bigger and better celeb circles, so she is willing to keep up with her studies to become a fully fledged Scientologist.”
If Peaches successfully infiltrates the religion — which teaches that we are actually immortal alien spirits called Thetans, currently trapped on Earth in human bodies — she can look forward to rubbing shoulders with the likes of fellow Scientologists John Travolta, Juliette Lewis, Priscilla Presley and Beck (even Nancy Cartwright, the voice of Bart Simpson).
But even the good folk of Scientology might not appreciate Peaches' reason for embracing their faith.
“Getting religion” simply to expand your circle of rich and famous friends is the best reason we've heard yet.

Farbiash: well, you just read her column on this very site to know that Peaches isn't exactly the saltiest crisp in the bag........
I think she should invest in a good PR person to protect her from herself. I don't know who seems weirder at the moment, Peaches or Katie Price!

Anyone who deliberately chooses to join a cult before they've even been brainwashed is not safe to be let out on their own. But then she does look a bit thick, doesn't she? (and yes, yes, I know I shouldn't judge a book by it's cover!)

Bob Geldoff should cut her off completely ( moneywise) for 10 years, let her work for herself. If she then wishes to give her OWN cash to Scientology, that's up to her, isn't it?
I somehow can't see Bob Geldoff throwing money into a dangerous cult...

Well that's exactly what Scientology does, it targets celebrities to influence people, to thereby expand it's bank account. There's actually
a list that L Ron made up of celebs he wanted to target back in the 60's.

Is she really that desperate for media attention?

A fool and her money being easily parted.
A more balanced view of scientology can be found on the Rick Ross website which deals with cults and helps those caught up in them to be "deprogrammed"

Don't you worry - the 'good folk' of Scientology will definitely embrace her. She's enough of a celebrity in their eyes, what with her dear dad, to warrant accepting her. After all, they've got the 'Celebrity Center' in Hollywood specifically for the great and good, so they don't have to mingle with the little worker bee (read: non-famous or wealthy) Scientologists. Of course, little Peaches might balk when she finds she is expected to donate lavishly to the cause....But on the flip side, maybe the teachings of L. Ron might cure Peaches of her general stupidity. Maybe she'll take to it so much that she'll be assigned to the Sea Org and we'll never have to see her again. One can only hope.

Why should we bother too much about fake religions , when the traditional ones have killed, and continue to slaughter, so many? Silly people will always espouse silly ideas, it seems to be part of the human condition.

God,how gullible can she be?Scientology is a dangerous cult which has ruined hundreds of lives and even ended some (Lisa McPherson nbeing the most obvious example. It's astonishing to me that with all of the information that is freely available on the net, that people still get suckered into this scam.Scientology's leader,David Miscavige violently abuses his staff. The organisation tears families apart and stops it's followers from engaging in critical thought.
It won't help Peaches career-being a Scientologist is like a kiss of death in some parts of the industry.Peaches, get out while you still can!
