Model agency signs 'axe' row Pixie Geldof

Updated 12:18pm on 17 Jul 2009

An international modelling agency has snapped up Daisy Lowe and Pixie Geldof from a rival company.

The girls, who are joined in their move from Select by fellow model and property heiress Alice Dellal, have signed up to Next Model Management.

Select yesterday said it had decided to axe its talent section, meaning the girls were dropped from its books.

Moving: Geldof denies Select claims that she was dropped

A spokesman for Lowe and Geldof, both 19, and 21-year-old Dellal, initially refused to comment yesterday, but last night claimed it had been their choice to leave, and that they had not been axed.

A statement said: “All the girls wrote to Select and left of their own accord on Tuesday and have joined Next Model Management with immediate effect.”

Next represents many of the world's top models. Its current client roster includes Gucci, Prada, D&G, Chanel, Chloe, Louis Vuitton, Alexander Macqueen, Stella McCartney and Missoni.

Amanda Bretherton, director of the Next London office, said: “We are delighted to welcome Daisy Lowe, Pixie Geldof and Alice Dellal among other top names to Next Model Management.

“We pride ourselves on being one of the very top global model agencies and these girls will certainly benefit from moving to a company with offices in all the fashion capitals of the world.”

Nobody from Select was available to comment.

Spot on Ali Sichilongo! What is wrong with these "agencies"? Have they totally lost the plot? What they see in her or that potato faced sister of hers is totally beyond me. Please stop trying to convince us that this is beauty nowadays, take note from the 80's and 90's when models where really beautiful.

WTF?!! Pixie Geldof a MODEL?!! If that girl didn't have the father or mother that she has/had...there's not a chance in hell that any modelling agency on the planet would even let her through their doors - let alone put her on their books! All of them...all these children that have acquired fame by proxy are all ordinary and average looking and are good at doing only one thing...posing on red carpets amongst their fellow z listers that'd go to the opening of a lavatory in Bracknell, and falling in and out of clubs in the West End....what a talent!! Models indeed!...Iman, Christy Turlington, Linda Evangelista, Cindy Crawford, Beverley Johnson,...hell even that caner Kate Moss...they're models...not this bunch of useless wastes of space...
