Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe has revealed a secret in an interview with a gay magazine — he's a Liberal Democrat.

Party ties: Daniel Radcliffe reveals he is a Liberal Democrat

The actor, who turned 20 yesterday, confessed his party allegiance for the first time in the August edition of Attitude.

Radcliffe, who appears on the publication's cover, speaks of his disdain for Gordon Brown and David Cameron.

But he praises Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg saying the other parties have nothing to offer young people. He said: “I rather like Nick Clegg. At the next election I will almost certainly vote Lib-Dem.

“If all the people who liked them voted for them you could change politics overnight and we could have a proper three-party system.”

Radcliffe, now appearing in Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince, also tells of his hatred of homophobia. He says that while he is not gay he grew up surrounded by his parents' friends who were in same-sex relationships.

He said: “I loathe homophobia. It's just thick people who can't get their heads around it and are scared.”

Why exactly, would it matter if he was gay? And how is it possible to take on the characteristics of an environment? Your facial features are determined through DNA. I also think it is very stereotypical on your part (Malcolm) to say that someone can "look" gay. Sure there are people who are gay who wear certain types of clothes, but you cannot tell just based on that, or a persons' facial structure.
And again, why does anyone care? He's still Daniel Radcliffe, sexual orientation does not make a person better or worse. If he says he is or isn't gay, then might as well believe him. He has stated he detests homophobia, so would most likely not care about others' opinions to the extent of hiding his preferences.
Base your judgments on his character, which sexual orientation does not have a hand in with any individual.

Give me a break! We see in people what we wish to see. Perhaps it is just wishful thinking on Malcolm's part. I see nothing gay about Daniel nor will I in the future.

I thought that his secret was that he was gay himself and coming out via the gay magazine.

He says that he was brought up surrounded by gays, so it looks as if there could be something chameleon-like in human physiology that can make a person take on the attributes of his/her surroundings, because Radcliffe looks like a camp gay boy to me.

Perhaps it's just a matter of time until he comes out as such.

"... a proper three-party system". Yikes! Is that what we need Daniel? Just 3? No less? No more?
