Blake: I brought Amy Winehouse back to life after she 'died' during drugs binge

Amy Winehouse's ex-husband has revealed how she briefly died after a three-day drink and drugs binge.

Terrifying: Amy Winehouse was 'brought back to life' by ex-husband Blake Fielder-Civil

Blake Fielder-Civil said he was “terrified” when the singer stopped breathing after getting high on crack cocaine and heroin.

And he admitted he was in a state of “utter panic” as he gave her mouth-to-mouth resuscitation to bring her back to life.

Mr Fielder-Civil, 27, who was divorced from 25-year-old Ms Winehouse 10 days ago, said the incident happened in August 2007, just three months after they married in Miami, Florida.

They had started the alcohol and drugs binge three days earlier and were at their home in Camden, north London, when Ms Winehouse started to have a fit. Mr Fielder-Civil said he had begged her to get some sleep and managed to get her upstairs to their bedroom.

He added: “She started having a fit on the bed. She slid down on to the floor before I could stop her.

“She started quivering again and it suddenly grew into what seemed like a full-blown epileptic fit.

“I didn't know how to help her. I was out of it on drugs as well. But then suddenly she passed out and stopped breathing.

“Somehow I managed to open her mouth and breathe air down her throat. At first nothing happened. So I did it again. Then she spluttered and I saw her chest rise.”

She begged him for more drugs while slipping in and out of a coma, but a friend called a cab which rushed her to hospital where she eventually recovered.

Speaking to The Sun, Mr Fielder-Civil — who admitted he too was hooked on drugs — said her near-death experience did not put her off taking hard drugs again.

And he said she missed out on the chance to record the theme to the James Bond film Quantum Of Solace as she was constantly inebriated.

He said: “She wasn't concentrating on work. It's just a shame because she's very funny, very clever and she's very loving.

“But she just put everything going for her — all that talent and personality — and hid them behind drugs and drink.”
