Jack Nicholson still playing the Joker at 72

Updated 15:11pm on 3 Aug 2009

Maybe nowadays Jack Nicholson has a bit too much to shake — although this young lady doesn't seem to be complaining.

Life of the party: Jack Nicholson struts his stuff on the dancefloor with a singer

The actor, who is a few spare tyres past his best, was twisting well into the night at a private party on the French Riviera.

Puff daddy: 72-year-old Jack Nicholson draws on a cigarette while floating in the Mediterranean off the South of France

His young companion, a singer clutching a microphone, was more than happy to dance with film star for whom the phrase “ageing lothario” might have been invented. Nicholson was later pictured at the same party chatting with two much younger women, although at Nicholson's age — he is 72 — most women are much younger.

After show: Jack relaxing with two young women and having a calming cigarette at a party

Nicholson has been having a damn fine time while holidaying hard around Saint-Jean Cap-Ferrat. One of the greatest actors of his generation, he has not been afraid to show off his bulk while splashing about in the Mediterranean. He has earned such unkind nicknames as “Whaleman” while one report rather harshly spoke of his “sizeable cleavage”.

Nicholson has not let it get to him. At the weekend he was photographed lunching with the former Rolling Stones bass guitarist Bill Wyman and later was seen lolling on his back, relaxed and becalmed in the sea with a cigarette dangling from his mouth.

Last night he took to the dance floor at the home of Christian Berhman, described as a Belgian socialite. Whoever knew such folk existed?

Sorry i made a right mess of that last post,-Nicholson is one of my favourite actors of all time, but he has now reached the age where he is in danger of turning himself into a laughing stock with his away from work exhibitionism,i think that's quite sad.

"I wonder would Jack would have quite the same allure if he were an out of work woolworth employee?

- Jacob"

The term 'player-hater' comes to mind when I read comments like this. fact of the matter is that success, and the confidence that acompanies it, has always and will always be one of the greatest turn-ons that exist. Unfortunately, out of work Woolworths employees aren't renowned for their success are they?

Hey Mike,

There are plenty of people that work in Woolworths or the equivelant who are highly intelligent with lots of formal qualifications but only work there
on a part time basis until they get a position in their chosen field.
At the other end of the spectrum, we've all read about the financially successfull bankers, with their big bonuses.........and look what they've done to the world economy.
We've also read about some of the rich wealthy lawyers some of whom earn their living by defending the indefensible.
A lot of showbiz is about creating a false inage but behind closed doors some of these "stars" aren't what they want us to believe

I just saw the photos and they make me smile. Mr. Nicholson with his joie de vivre always manages to lift the spirits - have to admire the man who once said "Take the sunglasses away and I'm just another elderly man"!!!
