Victoria Beckham and I were actually born within a few hours of each other, and I do find the similarities between our careers interesting. I design fashion accessories, have authored several books, and also sing. However, there the similarity ends. I have been doing art and music since the year dot and I cannot stress enough how difficult it is to become financially successful in creative industries unless you have a lot of support behind you. VB has a great support network of people to do things for her - publicists, pattern cutters, songwriters, ghostwriters, you name it. I do everything myself because I have no choice, and no support network of that type. I design the prints, make the patterns for, and partly sew, my own fashion designs. I write, sing and co-produce my own songs (GOOD songs), and play my own instruments (guitar, mandolin). I have entirely written and illustrated all my books with drawings and photographs. The reason VB was chosen is because she sells newspapers, and to whoever's in charge of making that decision, it doesn't actually matter whether she's good or bad or has any integrity - what matters is the amount of money, or column inches, she is able to generate.

Simon Cowell can't sing. Cherly Cole is not a great singer. She's an incredible business woman and knows the whole showbuiness thing inside out. Just b/c she can't sing doesn't mean she won't be a good judge. In fact I think she will be excellent at spotting potential. Just as she has done for her own career. Leave her alone, she's done well in her life. I'm not a fan but credit where it's due.

I can't wait to see her in action! Whenever I've seen her speaking before, she's been very witty and self-deprecating. I think she's going to surprise you all. I'm not a big fan, never have been - and I do agree with you all that (bless her) she can't sing. But she's an incredibly savvy lady who has achieved an incredible amount - rich beyond most of our wildest dreams, gorgeous hubby and three kids, the freedom and flexibility to do pretty much any business venture that she wants to. Don't underestimate her just because she "pouts a lot".
