Beckham is back in the US after England's draw against the Netherlands to support his wife's appearance as a judge on American Idol.

Encore: Victoria Beckham arriving at the Boston auditions

As Victoria arrived for the auditions in Boston, wearing a scarlet dress from her own fashion range, her soccer star husband, 34, touched down in Los Angeles with their eldest son Brooklyn, 10.

Dutch treat: Brooklyn and David Beckham back home in LA

Posh, 35, defied the critics to make a second appearance on the talent show. Some had branded her “wooden” and “icy” on her first appearance in Denver last week, while others complained the ex-Spice Girl was “too nice”. She had stepped in after Paula Abdul quit the panel.

Ready to judge: Simon Cowell at the auditions

Victoria apparently so impressed close friend Simon Cowell that he asked her to do a second stint, for which she is rumoured to be making another £155,000.

Friends said the music mogul loved “how funny she was” and added that Posh was “wonderfully natural”.

In Boston, she again joined Cowell, songwriter Kara DioGuardi and producer Randy Jackson on the panel. It opens the possibility for more shows in the future but “there are no talks of her being a permanent judge”, a spokeswoman said.

Imagine having that thing telling you that you've got no talent - it would be like Pol Pot telling you that you're quite a bad person!

God help them!! If I was one of the contestants on the show I'd demand NOT to be given singing tips from Sticktoria Beckham...why would you want to be judged by someone that has no discernible talent in that department at all?!!
