The 28-year-old attended Wilmslow police station for talks with officers after she was filmed snorting the Class A drug by a Sunday newspaper.
The caution followed Katona's public apology for her drug use through a national newspaper.

This afternoon, a Cheshire Police spokesman said: "Following a police investigation, today at Wilmslow police station a 28-year old woman has been cautioned by police for possession of a controlled drug."
The caution marks a new low for the former winner of ITV's I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here!.
The mother of four was filmed snorting cocaine through a £20 note in the bathroom of her detached home in Wilmslow, Cheshire.
Following publication of the details in the News of the World, she fled with husband Mark Croft, 39, and her family to Tenerife.
Publication of the picture of Katona taking the drug led to the Iceland stores chain dropping her as the face of the company.
The loss of the lucrative advertising contract came as a blow to her, she said, after she was made bankrupt last year and has been left with huge debts.
Yesterday, Katona told the Sunday Mirror she was "ashamed" of her actions.
"I know I let everyone down - my fans, my family and people I work with," she was reported as saying.
"It was a moment of weakness and stupidity and I regret it terribly."
The former Atomic Kitten singer has endured a long and public battle with alcohol and drugs as well as a rollercoaster romantic life.
She married Westlife singer Brian McFadden in 2002 and had two children.
But the couple split two years later with McFadden now engaged to Australian singer Delta Goodrem.
A colourful figure, Katona remains popular with her fans.
This morning a photographer's car was vandalised outside her home by a man who threw an iron girder through the rear windscreen.
Before the incident, he shouted abuse at photographers, then turned around in his van and returned to launch the missile.
Police are investigating.

Why wasn't she arrested for possession of a hard drug? If I was stopped and searched and found to be in possession of drugs I would be!!

It has got to the stage with Kerry that i just feel sorry for her now - its gone past the talentless spoilt Z list celebrity that she was - and now it just seems as Britney says 'Do you want a piece of me'
Who does she have around her for support - the only person that seems to stick up fro her is Max Clifford and he is only around untill she stops selling news papers
Kerry take a step out of the limelight and get help - you may miss the attention and being photograped eating kebabs but at least your children shall get to know their mother and not some sad over indulgent waste of space that you appear to be at the moment - I do wish you luck and that one day you shall be 'whole again'

I'm rather suprised that Miss Katona's solicitor let her accept a caution. Had she said 'Prove that it was a drug that I was snorting', the police wouldn't have had a leg to stand on. It could have been flour, unlikely, but how would you prove different?
