Cheryl Cole set for fashion showdown with Posh

When Cheryl Cole said that Victoria Beckham's fashion range looked like it was for “older women”, it was only a matter of time before she would come out with a clothing line of her own.

Fashion fan: Cheryl Cole

We can reveal that the Girls Aloud star, 26, is set to go toe-to-toe with Posh on the high street by bringing out her own fashion label of clothing and accessories.

We're told: “With her new hair and edgier clothes choices, Cheryl has told work colleagues that she wants to capitalise on her best dressed' status and is exploring the possibilities of launching her own fashion label next year.”

The X Factor judge is planning to bring out a casual wear range along with a handbag collection and a formal dress wear line. A source added: “Cheryl wants to pounce while she's on top. She spent a great deal of time in LA and she thinks her style can translate wonderfully across continents. But everything is in the early stages.

“She is eager to follow the multi-tier marketing platform used by US stars such as Jessica Simpson, Nicole Richie and Heidi Klum, to highlight her on-screen, singing and fashion talents. Cheryl loves fashion.”

And, you have to admit, a love of fashion is kind of important if you're going to launch a clothing line.

Earlier this year, Cheryl Cole reportedly said that Victoria's designs were not something
Girls Aloud would wear — as they were more suited for “older women”.

The caustic remark came soon after Cheryl reportedly said she was shocked that Victoria did not support her after husband Ashley Cole was caught cheating last year with mum-of-one
Aimee Walton.

She's bound to have as much input into "her" designs as Posh, i.e. absolutely sweet FA.
