Demi Moore paid tribute to Patrick Swayze by recalling their roles in the Oscar-winning movie Ghost.

Haunting scene: Demi Moore with Patrick Swayze in Ghost

She wrote on Twitter: "In the words of Sam to Molly, 'It's amazing Molly. The love inside, you take it with you.' "I love and will miss you, Patrick. You are loved by so many and your light will forever shine in all of our lives."

Moving tribute: Demi Moore's Twitter page today in which she remembers playing opposite the tragic star in their smash-hit 1990 film Ghost

In the 1990 film, the actress, now 46, played Molly Jensen, a widow haunted by her dead husband. Whoopi Goldberg, who won an Oscar for her role as a medium, said: "Patrick was a really good man, a funny man and one to whom I owe much that I can't ever repay. I believe in Ghost's message, so he'll always be near."

Cheers star Kirstie Alley said: "Come back soon Patrick, we need you here on Earth."

Time of their lives: Swayze and Jennifer Grey in Dirty Dancing

Actor Rob Lowe, who starred alongside Swayze in The Outsiders and Youngblood, said: "Patrick lived a thousand lifetimes in one lifetime. He was an expert dancer, he wrote hit songs, he starred in hit movies, he was an amazing horseman.

"But the thing I will remember him for most was his amazing love affair with his wife, Lisa. "He played my brother twice. Tonight I lost a brother."
