Susan Boyle's singing 'was not live'

Susan Boyle's performance on America's Got Talent was pre-recorded after fears that she might have a meltdown on stage.

Despite many believing the 48-year-old Scot was singing live on the talent show on Wednesday, it emerged today that worried bosses recorded her slot 24 hours before.

Pressure off: Susan Boyle back in UK

Boyle shot to fame overnight after a video of her audition for Britain's Got Talent, now seen by 130m people, was viewed via the internet around the world. But her sudden celebrity status led to an emotional breakdown and she was admitted to The Priory clinic in London for help.

A source on America's Got Talent said that her slot was blended into the show, adding: “It took the pressure off her and enabled her to relax and give her best.”

I'm so pleased she didn't perform in front of a dead audience Sherry, that wouldn't have been nice.

Why does the media constantly try to pull down Susan. Her performance was not the only one done in advance. That is a very common practice. They could not possibly get the full orchestra seated, tuned and ready with set in the time of a commercial. This is very common. How rude to insinuate that it was for any other reason. There were at least three acts pre- recorded. If you can't get things straight - don't print them!

I was there in LA in the audience at the taping. Cirque du Soleil and Susan both performed in front of a LIVE audience. In fact the place was packed completely. I doubt there was one empty seat. It is not unusual to tape performances because the time for setup of each act is quite long so how could they fit it all in 2 hours only? Several of the acts was pre-taped but there were live audiences. If I had not been there, I could not attest to that but I was and I do. Susan's performance thrilled all of us who were lucky enough to be there for her first US performance.

How very very cruel. Deliberately misleading that huge audience and Ms Boyle.

She is a good singer. She has particular needs and can be a loose cannon but that is manageable. She is being manipulated, exploited and I suspect medically maintained. Then what, the novelty wears off and the swines/rats desert her.

The fact is, Susan, Shakira, Lewis and Cirque were all filmed 1 day prior to the event, not just Susan. This was apparently due to the lenghty set changes (Susan had entire Orchestra). The arrangements for this were clearly published in the LA Times earlier this week -- so it wasn't a secret.

and so...? It is clear when watching shows liek this that the guest artists have all had their slots recorded to slot into the live show. You can tell by the set and what is on stage and then in seconds is gone..?

This poor woman will be fine once the media leave her alone, and stop trying to represent her as a 'star'. -She's not a star, and never will be. -A phenomenon ? -maybe. -Once she's out of the spotlight I'm sure she'll find her niche and settle down to her dream; -'A professional singer'. -No more than that.
