The Brits were very well represented at a bash celebrating divas in the US — with Leona Lewis stealing the show.

The X Factor winner sang a duet, True Colors, with Cyndi Lauper as well as a solo performance of her new single Happy.

Adele also appeared at the VH1 Divas show, and rightly looked very comfortable among a bevy of stars including Sheryl Crow, Miley Cyrus and Jennifer Hudson. During the TV show, broadcast live from New York, Paula Abdul had a hilarious dig at her former American Idol co-star Simon Cowell.

She performed a medley of her hits, including her 1989 No 1 Opposites Attract... complete with a backdrop of their two faces scowling at each other.

The singer opened the show by saying: “Good evening, I'm Paula Abdul, and this is NOT American Idol.” Paula, 47, controversially quit as a judge on the show earlier this year.
