Slumming it in couture at London Fashion Week

Updated 10:56am on 23 Sep 2009

Samantha Cameron and Slumdog Millionnaire stars Frieda Pinto and boyfriend Dev Patel were among the guests who turned out at Christopher Bailey's Burberry show held at Chelsea College of Art.

Not Slumming it anymore: Dev Patel and Frieda Pinto

Pinto was clad in a lemon dress from the collection (could she be a future face of the brand?).

Happy: Samantha Cameron was all smiles at the event

Current star Emma Watson was in the front row, sitting with Gwyneth Paltrow and Mario Testino and Liv Tyler. Front row seats also went to, of course, Vogue editors Anna Wintour and Alexandra Shulman, who some observers thought Victoria Beckham curtsied to on arrival, making Shulman fashion royalty.

At the party held at Burberry's new HQ, a vast building on Horseferry Road, the Kooks played, Otis Ferry, Alexa Chung and designers Ozwald Boateng and Alice Temperley partied and the Londoner met Victoria Beckham who was wearing an elegant black dress, who was spotted deep in conversation with Peter Mandelson. Imagine that conversation...

“It was important to me to be here” she said of London Fashion Week, “and I really like Christopher. [Bailey]. I was at the Fashion East show earlier in the day — it's as important I think to support new designers as the established names.”

The best of British theme continued with roast beef and Yorkshire pudding canapés.
