Samantha Burke gives birth to Jude Law's daughter

Updated 12:22pm on 24 Sep 2009

Jude Law has become a dad again after small-time model Samantha Burke gave birth to his daughter in Florida, according to reports.

Father again: Jude Law is currently starring as Hamlet in Broadway

The birth had originally been set for October 6th but an entertainment website in the US claims it took place on Tuesday night.

A source reportedly told People.com: "I doubt Jude was there. Besides the financial support, he's not involved."

The source added that Samantha is "doing well" after the birth. She had previously announced the girl would be named Sophia. Burke's publicist declined to comment on the story.

Model mum: Samantha Burke during the pregnancy

It was only two months ago that Law acknowledged Burke, whom he briefly dated in New York, was pregnant with his child. The unknown model and aspiring actress has since returned to her hometown of Pensacola to see through the final stages of her pregnancy at the family home.

It would be the fourth child for Law, who already has three other children with ex-wife Sadie Frost. The 36-year-old is currently appearing in a Broadway production of Hamlet. Law's rep acknowledged the pregnancy in a statement released last July after reports surfaced in the media that Burke was expecting.

"Jude Law can confirm that, following a relationship last year, he has been advised that he is to be the father of a child due in the fall of this year," the actor's rep said.

"Mr. Law is no longer in a relationship with the individual concerned but he intends to be a fully supportive part of the child's life. This is an entirely private matter and no other statements will be made."
