Revel Horwood: I wish they’d sacked me, not Arlene Phillips

Updated 12:53pm on 24 Sep 2009

Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood has said he wished he had been sacked from the BBC show — as he would love to have Arlene Phillips's new job.

Phillips is set to present the new series of So You Think You Can Dance on BBC1, after she was replaced by Alesha Dixon on the hit Saturday night show.

But last night, her former co-judge Revel Horwood said: “I'm so jealous. That's the show I thought I would have been fabulous for. I'm furious the BBC didn't sack me because I might have had a chance to do it. I'm still available.”

Earlier this week, Revel Horwood defended judge Alesha Dixon after the BBC received hundreds of complaints over her debut in the new series, saying the public should give the singer a chance.

“This backlash is horrendous and I don't think she deserves it,” he said. “She deserves to be given a chance and it makes me very angry
that she's not.”
