Michael Jackson recorded a song with Akon shortly before his death — but the Smack That star fears their single will never see the light of day.

Akon, 32, told us he spent a lot of time with Jacko and the pair completed a track in the studio before the King Of Pop died in June aged 50.

Under wraps: Akon recorded a secret single with Michael Jackson

The track is owned by Michael Jackson's estate, but would be a sure-fire chart-topper if it was ever released.

Akon was in town for his Orange RockCorps gig at the Royal Albert Hall, where he revealed: “Me and Mike spent a lot of time together, discussing concepts and playing around in the studio.

“We finished one track and it's amazing, but the MJ estate owns it now. You never know, it may come out in 10 years' time or it may come out this year. I hope so.”

Akon got into a spot of bother during his set on Friday when he snatched a hat from a fan.

Our spy said: “Akon grabbed a hat off a girl in the front row and threw it into the crowd. The fan wasn't happy, and the Orange RockCorps had to reimburse her for it.”
