In demand: The 9,000 tickets for Jay-Z’s palace gig are expected to sell out fast
He has filled the O2, the Roundhouse and Wembley Arena. Now Jay-Z is to play the only major venue in the capital where he has not performed, with a special show at Alexandra Palace.
The American hip-hop artist will take to the stage at the north London venue on 4 November in a sign of his apparent love affair with London.
The concert is expected to be an almost instant sell-out, with 9,000 standing-only tickets.
Promoters said they were also expecting “surprise guests” to perform. It follows his performance at the Roundhouse last month, for which tickets sold out in 20 seconds.
A spokesman for promoters Live Nation said: “If you missed out on a ticket for the Roundhouse you better be quick in getting one of these when they go on sale on Friday.”
The 39-year-old Brooklyn-born rapper, whose real name is Shawn Carter and who is married to pop singer Beyoncé Knowles, 28, was praised for his performance at the Roundhouse in front of 3,500 fans — a far cry from his normal stadium-filling gigs.
