French talent: Keira Knightley
She is to join a company led by Band of Brothers star Damian Lewis for Molière's The Misanthrope from December.
The 24-year-old star of Bend It Like Beckham and Pirates of the Caribbean is understood to be nervous about her first appearance on a London stage. Also in the play, directed by Thea Sharrock, are Waking the Dead star Tara Fitzgerald and Dominic Rowan.
Knightley will play Jennifer, the lead female love interest of Lewis in the principle role of Alceste. The show, translated by British playwright Martin Crimp, updates the action from 17th-century Paris to modern London.
The Misanthrope will run at the Comedy Theatre from 7 December to 13 March 2010.

Keira Knightley is my favourite actress. I have loved everything she has been in and she appears to be a nice person to boot - best of luck Keira!

I really hope she has done something about her 'thin' voice. This is a wonderful play to be in and I hope she makes the necessary adjustments to her acting style to come over well live and on stage.
She has to be the luckiest lacklustre actress around
