Kandy Rain: We were told to look a bit randy

Kandy Rain came under fire for dressing too sexily as they became the first act
to be booted off the X Factor live finals. But the girls — former lapdancers at Hammersmith strip club Secrets — have hit back, saying they were made to wear sexy outfits by mentor Louis Walsh.

'Devastated': Kandy Rain were criticised for their outfits by judges Dannii and Cheryl
Azi Jegbefume, Coco Lloyd, Chemmane Applewhaite and Khatereh Dovani looked crestfallen as judges Cheryl Cole and Dannii Minogue laid into them on the finals show on Saturday night for not making an effort to move away from their image as strippers.
X Factor Blog: Tacky and talentless Kandy Rain had to go
Dannii told them: “You say you want to be taken seriously for your singing but there are certain things about you tonight that took away from that.”
Cheryl added: “If I was your mentor I would have brought you out looking demure and show what you can do as singers. But instead you come out dressed a bit provocatively and that's the image you give off.”
(Hear hear, Chez... we only hope she remembers these sentiments as she dons her dental-floss outfit for the next Girls Aloud performance.)
Kandy Rain was subsequently voted off on the results show last night, and Khatereh was quick to set the record straight, saying after last night's show: “We don't get much choice in what we wear!”
Our backstage source added: “The girls wanted to try something more classy, but Louis felt it was best for them to play up to their sexy image. They didn't really have much of a say in the matter, so they were devastated after being voted off.”
Cheryl went out of her way to apologise to Kandy Rain after Saturday night's final in scenes that were shown on the Xtra Factor on ITV2 last night.

Apology: Cheryl Cole hugs Coco Llyoyd last night
She waited for them in their dressing room, where she told them: “I just wanted to say it wasn't personal from me. I was trying to help you. I hope it was constructive. If you don't want to dress like this, stand up for yourselves and tell Louis. I felt really bad and I just wanted to say to your faces that it wasn't meant to be nasty.”
Sadly it was too little too late and the girls won't be getting a second chance...

Isabel, I'm sure that everyone is rubbish when they first start out - but everyone needs to be given a chance. As for the twins, don't even get me started!! LOAD OF RUBBISH

X-Factor is just a pantomine and the new format just goes on and on and on and on. It is trying to launch them all as superstars from day 1 and clearly they are not. We fickle public were steered to Jamie, Danyl and Stacey from the earlier programs and everyone is voting John and Edward in just to annoy Simon .. which he also set up in earlier programs. What a load of drivel

Isabel, it clearly does matter what they wore, given that that's all Cheryl Cole and Danni Minogue would talk about. And since every blog and forum is ridden with comments about Kandy Rain being "ugly slappers" and other such insulting comments, they were clearly being judged by the majority of voters simply by the way they looked. That, in my opinion, is incredibly sad, I thought the British public were a bit more open-minded than that.
And I think it's even sadder that the likes of Cheryl Cole just reinforced those sorts of small-minded opinions. I bet there were tons of people who thought she looked pretty awful when she was auditioning for Popstars and might have condemned her for her past too, yet here she is doing exactly the same thing to another group of girls. I thought she would've known better.

They got rid of the best looking band at least. Anf for cheryl to say they were dressing provocatively is bpure rubbish, has she never seen what girl's aloud wear sometimes. I can't watch x factor now. kandy rain will go further than most of them.

They were rubbish anyway so it doesn't matter what they wore.
