Bearded Beckham celebrates England victory

Updated 16:51pm on 15 Oct 2009

David Beckham took his beard to Bungalow 8 last night — and the both of them were almost immediately surrounded by a pack of female admirers.

Setting a new trend: Beckham sports a beard

The married father-of-three did what most red-blooded guys would do if their wife and kids were on another continent — he went clubbing with a mate.

Close shave: Beckham heads home at 3 am

Earlier in the evening, the 34-year-old had been controversially voted man of the match in England's World Cup qualifier against the mighty Belarus. But there were no questions about him being the man of the moment at the Covent Garden nightspot.

Arrivals and departures: David Beckham drives a mate to Bungalow 8

Our spy told us: “As soon as David arrived in the club he was ushered to his table with his male pal but soon after he was surrounded by women who were all vying to get his attention.

“David didn't seem to mind the company but made it obvious that he wasn't flirting. He clearly enjoyed their company as he chatted and laughed and bought them drinks. He stuck to red wine all night but the girls were drinking vodka. David wasn't keen on dancing, although a couple of the girls got up and were throwing a few moves on the dance floor near the DJ booth.”

Despite his generosity with the vodka, David took things easy at the bar and totted up a modest bill of £200. He left at 3am in his personalised Range Rover (with someone else driving it for him, of course).

Becks's face fuzz seems to be contagious among the England team, as Peter Crouch was spotted with smatterings of fur as he left Wembley with girlfriend Abbey Clancy.

Also in the club was Hollywood star Vince Vaughn, who's in town to plug new movie Couples Retreat.

Our spy added: “Vince kept to himself as he wasn't keen on being the centre of attention. He seemed to have a good night just chilling.”

The beard looks extremely scruffy which makes him looking like he needs a good wash. He could at least shave the neck bit. Now if it were on Peter Andre that would be different - he has personality, charisma, charm and wit and is able to hold a sensible conversation.

Pretty average game last night, Beckham was made man of the match because he is David Beckham I guess - cos it wasn't for the way he played!

What a dumb look. He looked like Homer Simpson and played quite like him too

Didn't watch the game personally as I was too busy playing in a netball game, but my husband tells me that Beckham didn't come on until the second half and was absolutely useless. Hmmmm, seem to have heard that comment said about this buy quite a lot over the last few years, so one wonders why there's so much hype about him.
