Four teenagers and a man have been charged with being part of a gang who stole jewellery and designer clothes worth more than $3m (£1.8m) from homes of stars including Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton.

The so-called “Hollywood Hills Burglar Bunch” are alleged to be behind raids in Los Angeles. The gang's victims also include Megan Fox, Orlando Bloom, High School Musical star Ashley Tisdale and The OC actress Rachel Bilson.

Victim: Lindsay Lohan lost a blue Rolex watch

Diana Tamayo, 19, and Courtney Ames and Alexis Neirs, both 18, were charged along with Roy Lopez Jr, 27, and Nicholas Prugo, 18.

They are accused of checking celebrity magazines and paparazzi photographs to decide which items to steal, before using Hollywood star maps to locate the homes of their alleged victims. The teenagers attended the same high school in Los Angeles and police say they enjoyed a taste for luxury goods and accessories.

Officers have seized a laptop believed to carry photographs of the suspects wearing items they are accused of stealing, including Miss Lohan's blue Rolex watch.

The five are due in court next month.
