Burglars broke into Patsy Kensit's north London home and stole her car.

Target: Patsy Kensit was targeted by burglars who broke into her home in Archway and took the keys to her Mini Cooper

The raiders grabbed the keys to her Mini Cooper and drove it around the capital for several days.

The 41-year-old actress, the ex-wife of Oasis singer Liam Gallagher, was not at her £1.1 million home in Archway at the time of the break-in last month.

She and her fourth husband, DJ Jeremy Healy, returned home to find the £11,000 car gone from where it had been parked in the street.

Police suspect that a burglar got into the house by reaching through the letterbox and opening the catch from the inside.

Sources said the thieves drove around in the car, which they fitted with false number plates, for several days before it was recovered near Kentish Town.

Ms Kensit, a former child actress and singer who stars in BBC series Holby City, was said to be “grateful” when police returned the car to her after dusting it for fingerprints.

Speaking at her home last night, Ms Kensit, who was born in Hounslow, said: “It has been a very trying time, but life goes on.”

Following the raid, police have warned Ms Kensit's neighbours not to make it easy for burglars.

A Met spokeswoman said: “Police are investigating a burglary and car theft which took place between 7.15pm on 13 October and 12pm on 14 October.

“Members of the public are reminded not to leave either house or car keys within reach of letterboxes as this is a method frequently used by burglars.”
