Former Take That star Robbie Williams hinted today he may be following in the footsteps of band member Mark Owen, who married this weekend, by tying the knot himself.

The Bodies singer, who appeared on ITV's Loose Women, said proposing to his girlfriend, American actress Ayda Field, might now be "on the cards".

He put a series of searching questions to presenter Carol McGiffin about how her partner proposed, prompting her to ask: "Are you thinking of doing it?"

"I might be," the singer replied, adding: "It might be on the cards."

During the interview, Williams fuelled speculation about a Take That reunion on stage, saying: "I can't give you a definitive answer. I would like that to happen, but who knows what's going to happen in the next few months?"

He said any decision depended on what happened with his new album, and "whether they would want me there or not".

"It's very difficult to get the balance right. I wouldn't want to go on a massive tour or anything, but I'd love to do something with the lads, just for fun.

"If we could get the balance right, I'd love to do it," he said.

He told viewers he was relieved that he and Take That's Gary Barlow had put aside their differences.

He said: "Do you know what? I'm so glad I have. I'd still be going around saying nasty things about someone who is amazing.

"He's a very, very well-rounded lovely man. He's special, and should be regarded as special in this country."

But he admitted he had been "terrified" about meeting up with his former bandmates after so many years.

"Socially, I'm incredibly awkward anyway," he said. "Then you've got four of these lads turning up I've got a history with, and I've got to keep this going. It's very scary."

He added: "We had the hard talk. We put everything on the table. Then straight after that, it was like 'Right, let's have a laugh'."

He donned a pair of pink rabbit ears to perform his single You Know Me.

Williams, who divided critics with his recent comeback appearance on The X Factor, has returned to the spotlight with his eighth album Reality Killed The Video Star after a three-year break living in Los Angeles.

But he said his return to the public eye had not been easy: "Inside my head I was thinking, God, this is weird, it's kind of like riding a bike but a very wobbly bike."
