Katie Price: I'm going back in the jungle for closure over Peter Andre fairytale

Updated 15:39pm on 16 Nov 2009

Katie Price revealed that her return to I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! is to achieve closure on her "fairytale" romance with ex-husband Peter Andre.

New chapter: Katie Price returns to I'm A Celebrity in a bid to put the lid on her marriage to Peter Andre

The glamour girl, who found love with the singer on the show five years ago, is joining the 11 celebrities who have already set up camp in the Australian jungle.

Speaking ahead of her entrance, Price said: "I'm going back in because it's an amazing experience, I'm a working mum and I want closure on the fairytale that I had."

The model and author - aka Jordan - added: "I've got no agenda, I'm not going to act any different, I'm just going to be myself. Obviously I'm more mature, I'm wiser and I shall just be myself.

"I don't think I've got any advantage over any other person going there apart from I've experienced how hungry they really make you!"

Price said the challenges in the jungle meant viewers would see a different side of her character compared to her ITV2 fly-on-the-wall show.

"People see the real me on the reality show, to be honest, but this is a different kind of show," she said.

"This is putting you through the test of starving you, making you do challenges, you know, living in an extreme way. So it's completely different to the reality show.

"But like I say, I'll just be myself."

Her soon-to-be fellow jungle dwellers have already been getting to grips with the show's notorious tasks.

Former topless model Sam Fox and chef Gino D'Acampo, tested their nerve against crabs, an octopus, and eels to win food and beds for the celebrity camp, after first spending a night on camp beds.

But the real test was to pop water spiders in their mouths without flinching.

During last night's opening show viewers chose former How Clean Is Your House? host Kim Woodburn to tackle the first 'bushtucker trial' open to the public vote.

She has already proved to her fellow campers she is not fazed by a few unsavoury sights and smells. Woodburn volunteered to take on the unenviable role of emptying the camp toilet, telling the others: "It's just poo in a bucket."

My comment is who cares what she does, Just let her be there must be a hell of a lot of jelous people out there. Any way saint Peter just loves all the publicity and money also. Why do the public bother voting for her to do all the tasks in the jungle. WHO CARES!!!!! There is enough going on in the world without bothering about Katie and Peter. People must have a real sad life to bother about them.

Aaah, for closure. Nothing to do with the 350,000 appearance fee then?

I had been so looking forward to this year's Jungle escapade, until I heard that Jordan aka Katie Price was going back in. As if she wasn't annoying enough last time round. George Hamilton had better watch out. Mind you, Kim will probably throw Jordan in the stream rather than see her get her fingernails into her beloved George.

This is now the reason I will be switching off I'm a celebrity.......... I'm sick to death of seeing her in every paper. For God sake woman, get over yourself. I think Peter has had a lucky escape.

How about ITV hold a vote over whether she has to STAY in the jungle?

I know which way I would vote......

I think the "closure" came when he dumped her, divorced her, and moved on with his life, something she seems to be totally unwilling or incapable of doing. Move on woman, you're history. Stay at home with your kids and try to be the mother you're always pretending to be..... whenever a camera is around. Ditching her kids, one just out of hospital, is not the way to try to get public support. Why is nobody advising this creature?? She seems to be in complete meltdown and is in need of help.
