Eric Bana said he would rather be crowned Formula 1 champion than win an Oscar.

He has also revealed that cars prevented him from getting in trouble in his childhood.

The Hulk actor's motor racing ambitions are explored in his new documentary film Love The Beast and he confessed he'd always rather win on the track than at the Academy Awards.

Eric, 41, said: "I'd rather be Formula 1 champion - it's a measurable thing, acting and film awards are always very subjective, it's one of the reasons I love motor racing, I guess."

He added: "Something that's immediately accurate and measurable. Each time I go to a race track if I'm half a second quicker then I was last time then I know I'm going in the right direction, so it's great for your sanity when you do what I do for a living."
