You haven't seen the last of us, say X Factor rejects John and Edward

Updated 11:14am on 23 Nov 2009

Tuneless twins John and Edward Grimes said they are "up for any challenge" now their X Factor dream has ended.

The twins - dubbed "Jedward" - were booted off the show last night and said they will consider any offers before they decide what to do next.
The 18-year-olds, from Dublin, told GMTV: "We are up for any challenge.

"We have got to think about it together and see if it's for us."

The twins, who said it takes them only 10 seconds to create the trademark hairstyles which add to their cartoon image, were popular with the talent show's viewers.

They used energetic performances to distract from their lacklustre singing and are expected to be a huge hit on The X Factor live tour.

"The tour is coming up next year so we're really excited about that. We just want to throw ourselves into that," they said.

They described appearing on the show as "fun" and said everyone they worked with were "such pros".

Edward said: "We were honoured just to be given the opportunity to have made it that far."

Asked if they would consider joining other reality shows, the pair said they would consider any offers which came their way.

The twins were asked if they would consider going to the jungle to replace Katie Price, aka model Jordan, who walked out of I'm A Celebrity Get Me... Out of Here! today.

"Are we celebrities?" they asked.

The teenagers told presenter Lorraine Kelly they were both currently single.

"At the moment we don't have girlfriends," John said.

Edward added: "We didn't want to be missing anyone."

The twins said they did not mind people not being able to tell them apart and were happy to share the joint name Jedward.

"It's cool because our fans came up with that name," John said.

The X Factor charity single, a cover version of Michael Jackson's You Are Not Alone featuring all the finalists, went straight into the charts at number one last night.

John said: "I can't believe we are at number one. The great thing about it is it's for charity."
The single, which has sold more than 193,000 copies, is raising money for London's famous children's hospital, Great Ormond Street.

John and Edward said they were currently concentrating on music but have not ruled out a future career as television presenters.

"We'd like to do different things in future. Right now our main focus is the X Factor and music but we still want to pursue different things," John said.

"You never know what's going to happen. It's about keeping doors open."

Asked if they fancied themselves as the next Ant and Dec, John said the duo were "so cool".

Edward said he was "so excited" about going home to see his friends.

The pair were a controversial choice to make the live finals but they won over many of their biggest critics, including Simon Cowell, who said last night: "I'm actually going to miss you."

The twins dropped their usual stage antics for the sing-off with a subdued performance of No Matter What from the musical Whistle Down The Wind.

They lost out against Olly Murs, who had been thought of as one of the show's favourites.

Murs, who sang Eric Clapton's Wonderful Tonight, said he was "a bit gutted" to be in the bottom two.

The twins' mentor, Louis Walsh, said: "I've had the best time working with these guys. I feel young again. We've had an amazing time."

Last night's show also featured Britain's Got Talent sensation Susan Boyle, who received a standing ovation for her performance of the Rolling Stones classic Wild Horses.

She said the whirlwind of the past six months was "bloody fantastic".

Her album, I Dreamed A Dream, is hotly tipped to go straight to number one.

I hope they have a very successful future... on kids tv where I don't have to watch them.

They were my favourites but I wont be voting for anyone else. Hopefully wee Joe with the big but beautiful vocal can win now. Desperate dan will go next.

They were lovely boys, I can't believe the outpouring of hate towards them. What kind of people are out there? They've even received death threats!!
It's a TV show for goodness sake.
I voted for them and won't be voting for anyone else, the rest of the bunch are quite boring!!

They have no career outside of a hairdressers or public library. having to listen to their tuneless, stone-deaf rendition in the singg-off on Saturday was car-crash TY at its worst
