Kay Burley: Peter Andre sobbed on my shoulder
Updated 09:59am on 5 Feb 2010Peter Andre sobbed on Kay Burley's shoulder moments after breaking down during his live TV interview with her, the news presenter has revealed.

Andre fought back tears during the Sky News segment as he stormed: "No one is going to take my kids away from me".
The singer had to cut the interview short as he became choked up with emotion and Burley apologised for upsetting him.
Meanwhile, broadcasting watchdog Ofcom confirmed it had received complaints about the interview, which Andre gave hours after discovering his ex-wife Katie Price had married Alex Reid in Las Vegas.
An Ofcom spokesman said the regulator would look at the complaints before deciding whether or not to launch an investigation.
Writing on her blog, Burley wrote: "Peter Andre broke down on my show and when I went to check during an ad break that he was OK, he sobbed on my shoulder in the Green Room.
"He'd discovered not 12 hours earlier that the mother of two of his children had married without even bothering to tell him and was devastated at the very thought that she might want take the youngsters away from him.
"I was mortified at having upset such an obviously doting family man and was keen to offer sincere apologies but he was his usual charming self.
"As we stood and chatted about parenthood he said he was relieved he'd finally vented some of the pent up tension he'd been feeling and I sympathised but warned him not to ever cry in front of the children."
Burley said calm was restored and "Peter left the building wiser about news interviews and me very much with 'Team Pete'."
During the interview with Sky News, Andre was shown archive footage of Dwight Yorke, the father of Price's son Harvey, criticising Andre for wanting to adopt the child.
Responding to the clip, which viewers were told Andre had been pre-warned about, the singer said: "I asked to adopt him because I love him. I didn't ask to adopt him to be disrespectful.
"It angers me when people turn around and I get a comment like that."
Andre was asked how he might feel if Reid said he wanted to adopt the children.
Pointing a finger, Andre hit back: "No one is going to take my kids away from me - nobody... I will die for those children."
Andre, who is the father of Price's two other children, said he would go to court if such a situation arose, adding: "I don't really want to talk about this, ok?"
Andre was then asked a question about his tour and appeared to blink back tears as he said, his voice shaking: "I'd rather just stop this if that's all right?"
When Burley apologised to Andre for upsetting him, the singer replied: "No it's ok, thank you."

How can anyone watching that believe for a second that it was an act. Any decent parent can clearly see that Pete adores his children , he is an honest and open personality and Kay Burley took advantage of this and got him where it hurts. The situation between Pete and Dwight Yorke is completely different to that between him and Alex. There is clearly no need for Alex to adopt the kids as his own as Pete does a great job looking after them himself,

I can't stand cold blunt interviewers. It's like watching torture. Why are these cold hearted manic interviewers so powerful? This woman has got nothing positive about her: no sense of humour, no charisma, no beauty and a horrible strident voice. Give the jobs to the intelligent polite professionals!

Burley aint done nothing wrong at all. What's all the fuss about for goodness sake! Pete has paraded himself, his kids, and his family life on silly television programmes which expose his kids to the whole media circus. What does he expect an interviewer to ask him? As for the fake tears...it was pathetic! He is a total fake, and he is crying croccy tears purely and simply to win the sympathy vote so that people will run out and buy his new album. Grow up Pete!

My guess is that none of you guys slating Pete are fathers yourself. Any good father involved in their childrens lives like pete is would crumble when given a senario where your kids could be taken away from you. Pete us an excellent dad and he obviously loves his kids.
I believe any good father, close to their children in that situation would crumble.
It was cruel!

Jordan and Andre stealing the headlines as per usual.
He can hardly whinge and whine about being caught out on TV when he and Price courted the media for so long and basically exploited their own children to get headlines.
You've had you comeuppence now Andre. Learn your lesson and actually go and care for your kids
Ms Burley - good work. Now please go do the same to Price.
Price - what sort of creature are you that you go and marry ANOTHER glory hunting individual at the expense of your kids' happiness and not for any other reason than to grab at some headlines. And please get some elocution lessons!!
Members of the public - please stop falling for anything from the Price/Andre franchise - it is all contrived rubbish! Spend your time feeling sorry for the children!

kay burley is insensitive full stop. she was the same when interviewing people when michael jackson died !! the questions she asks and in her no nonsense style, are intrusive and plain rude !! she is a heartless person and should not be interviewing people who are going through sad times !

Like most comments I agree that Dwight Yorke and Peter Andre are poles apart when it comes to fatherhood. I never can understand why people never want anything to do with their own kids. Peter Andre loves his kids and for all you anti-Pete brigade that is a known fact and there is no way you can dispute that. So do we really need to have cruel and baiting interviews like this. After watching Alex Reid on Big Brother I would not even for one minute think that he would want to tread on Pete's toes in this way. The only problem I can see with regard to the kids and Alex is that at some point because they are so young they will call him Dad. Even if this happens they know who their Dad really is. If you think Pete had crocodile tears for publicity then I think you really need to look at yourself. You mustn't know what emotion is.

Kay Burley is a nasty piece of work. The interview was bad enough, with her posing 'what if' questions when these questions were not even on the horizon. But then to blog how he "sobbed on my shoulder" and how she is now firmly "team pete" is very vindictive. She's trying to redeem herself, by turning the story away from herself and placing it back on the whole "team Pete/team Price" rubbish. Disgusting behaviour from both Kay and Sky.

Great tactic, reel him in with the Dwight Yorke comments about Andre being disrespectful to him by openly declaring that he wanted to adopt Harvey....after all he was the New Dad! Then let Andre comment on, which he did in a very, "What a great guy I am, this is the way normal people behave, I was bought up very differently, blah, blah" Then put the boot on the other foot, Alex is the New Dad, and boy did he bite!! Exactly the same reaction as Dwight York, not so different after all, are you Pete, but showed you up a treat, great interview, cleverly constructed.

I felt sorry him for one nano-second, but then I came to my senses and remembered that he has an album full "love" songs out and with Valentine's day just round the corner (in case you have forgotten girls), now is an ideal time to get any publicity he can to promote it. Watch it climb up the charts now as the `Team Andre' brigade rush out in sympathy and chuck more of their money at this millionaire....

That interview was set up for that reaction, its awful to see someone that upset on live tv, she new that question would get that reaction, as really i didnt need to be asked, The situation of pete and his kids is nothing like harvey n his dad, Harvey dad Dwight was not in his sons life, hence the reason harvey calls pete daddy, he knows no other, this is why adoption was a thought, but to suggest that his children should be adopted when he has done nothing but play a massive part in there lives is a dreadful thing to suggest, i really feel for the bloke.

Everyone get over yourselves - it's Peter Andre working the media machine - AGAIN! This is all he and Jordan know; they were a match made in heaven. Don't for one second think those tears were anything other than crocodile. This is a man who has made a career out of working the media since his record career fell flat on its behind.

This interviewing style was just plain cruel. Then go to the press and say that Andre 'cried on her shoulder' shows a real lack of any real sincerity (ie. why is that in the papers?). Why mention it unless it is to give justification your actions. Sky and Burley should be ashamed.

I think this has went too far, I seen the interview, and I don't think Kate Burley did one thing wrong, she was doing her job.
Andre was told before hand what kinda questions he would be asked, did he think she was gonna be asking about that crock he calls music. Anyway he's a publicity hound, he deserves an academy award for "The worst Actor" category. He was quick enough to take money offa "The News of The World" for talking about his relatonship with whatshername. But this time he had a live audience, so he decided to bubble like a kid........grow up Pete.......You have been taking money offa the British public for doing nothing over the years...........So dry yer eyes....Your pathetic little show might lose a professional hard working woman her job.

I'm not an Andre fan, but I had hoped the bear bating style of interviews would remain the preserve of Jeremy Kyle. A parent myself, I find the sensitive and goading interview questions and the abrupt jump to "talk to me about the tour" in shockingly poor taste.
