A roll-call of stars will bring James Bond glamour and quirky individualism to the London Evening Standard British Film Awards next week.

French actress Eva Green, who won international fame when she appeared in Casino Royale with Daniel Craig in his first outing as 007, is to present the best film award at Monday night's ceremony.

The award is being contested by Bright Star, Jane Campion's biopic of the Romantic poet Keats and his love Fanny Brawne, Fish Tank, Andrea Arnold's gritty story of a teenage girl, and Helen, an art-house mystery thriller by Joe Lawlor and Christine Molloy.

Green will be joined on the presenters' podium by home-grown talent including Sally Hawkins, who won a Golden Globe and last year's Evening Standard comedy award for Mike Leigh's Happy-Go-Lucky, and Jaime Winstone, the daughter of actor Ray and a rising star in British movies.

Celebrities including Sacha Baron Cohen, Ricky Gervais, Peter Capaldi, Oscar nominee Carey Mulligan, Anne-Marie Duff and Kelly Macdonald are in the running for honours, with many expected to attend.

The best actor category sees three stars up for playing real people — Tom Hardy as jailbird Charles Bronson, Christian McKay as Orson Welles and Andy Serkis as Ian Dury — along with a fourth contender, Alex Macqueen in a low-budget first feature, The Hide.

Other guests include previous winners and other stalwarts of the British film industry such as Guy Ritchie, Terry Gilliam and Stephen Daldry.

The London Evening Standard British Film Awards take place on Monday in association with the London Film Museum which is hosting the event. There will be full coverage in Tuesday's edition.
