Vernon Kay begs wife Tess for forgiveness after sending sex texts to other women

Updated 08:11am on 10 Feb 2010

TV presenter Vernon Kay branded himself "stupid" after admitting sending explicit texts to around five women.

Kay said he had "let down" his wife, Strictly Come Dancing presenter Tess Daly, and their two young daughters.

The All Star Family Fortunes host told The Sun: "Tess is extremely upset about this and we're working through it."

Kay, who also presents a Saturday show on BBC Radio 1, added: "I've been an idiot and I've let my family down."

Kay said the text exchanges with friends or work colleagues would start off "pretty innocent" but developed into something more explicit.

The Beat The Star presenter denied having sex with anyone he had texted but admitted he had flirted while using the computer phone service Skype which allows users to see each other.

Kay, 35, told the newspaper he treated the messages as "harmless banter" but now realised his behaviour was not appropriate for a married man.

He pledged to halt his text habit and to do "whatever it takes to resolve the situation" with his wife.

Kay added: "I've got the most beautiful family and I'm embarrassed I've put them through this."

The former model was given his first presenting role with Channel 4 youth segment T4 in 2000.

The Bolton-born presenter married Daly, also a former model, in 2003 and their daughter Phoebe was born the following year.

vernon needs to grow up and realise that he isn't such a sex symbol as he might think he is.If I were Tess I would never forgive him she is worth ten of him and he was just sorry that he got found out and should never again be trusted.

Vernon Kay is not a GOOD PERFORMER on the box.He comes over as aself important big headed also ran .Hes probably paid an exaggerated salary to present what is a very low standard program and that has caused him to fancy his chances with the fair sex

Maybe Tess should get her own back by texting her colleagues. It would make Brucie's day.

I have not laughed so much in my life, reading some of the posts on this article. Does this mean that if a man sends a Valentines' card to anyone other than his wife, then she has grounds for divorce!!!

Better yet, if a husband goes to a lapdance club then he better get ready to appear in the divorce courts???

Do me a favour, you girls need to wake up and realise that he did not commit adultery and did not have 'sexual relations' with any of the textees.

All Tess needs to do is give him the silent treatment for a while and start going out with her mates on friday nights and then her husband will no how it feels when the shoe is on the other foot.

Must b a slow news day today.

What an absolute fool !! It goes to show, you can appear to have it all and still want more, stupid. I know no-one knows what goes on behind closed doors in a relationship, but they've always appeared happy and solid with 2 very young children, what a silly immature thing to do. I hope he thinks it was worth it ......

There was no need for him to brand himself ' stupid '

Those of us who immediately switch channels as soon as the dull-eyed, gurning idiot appears on our screens, reallised it years ago.

How does this oaf get so much tv exposure?
