Harry Hill signs two-year deal with ITV

Updated 16:30pm on 11 Mar 2010

Harry Hill has signed a two-year deal with ITV to make TV Burp and You've Been Framed, which will also see him working on new projects for the broadcaster.

The agreement spanning 2010 and 2011 means Hill will host two new series of both of ITV1's popular Saturday evening shows.

Two eight-episode runs of the Bafta award-winning Harry Hill's TV Burp will air, as well as special compilations.

The agreement also includes the option of extending the arrangements for two further series of TV Burp, which regularly pulls in six million viewers, in 2011 and 2012.

Hill said: "If you're a light entertainer there's really only one place to be on a Saturday night, and that's ITV."

The deal with Hill and TV Burp producers Avalon Television also includes a commitment to develop new programme formats, ITV said.

In January, Hill topped a poll as the celebrity people would like to see taking over Jonathan Ross's Friday night show on BBC1 when he leaves.

Peter Fincham, ITV's director of television, channels and online, said: "Harry is one of the outstanding comedians and television entertainers of his generation.

"I'm delighted that ITV1 will continue to be the home of the multi-award winning TV Burp and I very much look forward to working with Harry and Avalon on new projects for the channel."
